Gothic Sequel
Version: in development -Modification type: new story
Introduction
Gothic Sequel - a cancelled add-on to Gothic that was never officially released. Work on the project began in May 2001 and was discontinued in late October of that year.
Story
-
The add-on's plot was supposed to begin several months after the end of the base game. Xardas manages to bring the Nameless Hero back from the ruins of the Sleeper's temple to inform him that after the barrier fell, bad things are happening in the Mining Valley. The expulsion of the Sleeper weakened the boundary between dimensions, leading to the dispersal of dozens of demonic beings throughout the former colony. After teleporting from the mage tower near the Old Camp, the Nameless Hero meets the warrior Thora, who leads him to the camp damaged by a magical blast caused by the destruction of the barrier. He is taken over by Diego, who has gathered the remains of the prisoners. He informs the main hero about hordes of orcs wreaking havoc throughout the former prison and the arrival of King Rhobar II residing in the mountain fortress. The rest of the plot was preserved only in the form of loose ideas and notes from the creators, in which the hero and Thora set out to where the king is located. The hero was supposed to win over the audience by proving his usefulness. The mages had a plan, which involved stabilizing the magical structure to stop the demons. It turned out that focal stones were needed for this. The Nameless Hero had to obtain the stones from Saturas residing in the New Camp. Then the hero had to collect the right amount of blood ore needed for the ritual, which could be mined under the Fog Tower. The Nameless Hero then had to hire miners to mine it and demon hunters (including Gorn) to prevent demons from spreading in the mining area. When a sufficient amount of ore was collected and taken to the mages, Innos' servants told the hero to go to Xardas for help. However, it turned out that the mages only wanted to get rid of the Nameless Hero and performed the ritual themselves. Unfortunately, they performed it in the wrong place, leading to the opening of a small portal connecting the human and demonic dimensions, causing their engulfment.
-
The Nameless One then had to go to an ancient camp in the swamps, which was supposed to be teeming with monsters and undead. In this camp, he was to learn how to perform a ritual and then properly place the focal stones by dealing with former fire mages who had turned into minions of demons. At the end of the game, the hero had the choice of either banishing the Sleeper or summoning him. This was to be followed by a final battle and the end of the game.
New Guilds
-
Demon Hunters - a group of warriors dedicated to killing demons that have spread throughout the colony. Some of them are former mercenaries, including Gorn. They are led by Lee and are based in the former New Camp. The Nameless One could likely join this faction.
-
Paladins - elite units of King Rhobar II's army. They reside in a mountain fortress with their sovereign and fire mages. Some of them explore the valley. The Nameless One could probably join this faction.
-
Home Guard - an armed unit created by Diego to maintain order in the Camp and in case of goblin attacks. Members of the Home Guard wear armor from the former camp guards. Their leader is Berengar. The Nameless One could join this faction.
-
Healers - based in the Infected Quarter, where they treat the infected using marsh herbs that alleviate the symptoms of the disease. They are alchemy masters who could teach the Nameless One their craft because he has gained their trust.
-
Laborers - refugees who came to the Old Camp after the barrier fell and under Bromor's leadership work on repairing and strengthening the outer wall in case of goblin attacks. One of them is Horac.
-
Thieves - a guild in the Old Camp. Their numerous thefts and transgressions are not tolerated by the other inhabitants. Diego disapproves of their presence but has decided they should stay in the camp because he believes every person is important when goblins attack. Their leader is unknown. Their services are utilized by the healer Isgar.
-
Beggars - poor inhabitants of the Old Camp who probably arrived after the barrier fell, fleeing from the war with the orcs. Not much is known about them except that they have gained the trust of the Nameless One and can provide him with information. Their leader is Jesper.
-
The Sick - people afflicted with an unknown disease caused by the Sleeper, living in a quarter specially designated for them in front of the marketplace. Their treatment is conducted by the healers. After being infected, their bodies decay, and their behavior seems to be insane. After some time, they completely lose touch with reality and become zombies.
New characters
-
Thora - an Amazon and scout of King Rhobar II. She has long red hair. The upper part of her armor consists of leather elements and chainmail, with high boots completing the lower part. She fights with a combat staff. With this weapon, she can teach the Nameless One to fight if he defeats her in the arena in the Old Camp, where she is the champion. She can lead the hero to the mountain fortress to meet the king. It was probably also she who led the Nameless One to the destroyed New Camp. At night, she walks outside the camp to observe the stars.
-
Malgar - a demon hunter, but he fights in the arena in the Old Camp. He is not very talkative, but he is a great fighter. He ranks second in the leaderboard. At night, he goes to the scaffolding on the wall next to the north gate and observes the surroundings.
-
Palgur - the leader of the healers, studying scriptures and recipes to find a cure for the disease. He provides detailed information about it to the Nameless One.
-
Talamon - a healer searching for a cure for the disease. He tasks the Nameless One with finding a recipe for the disease cure. In return for his help, he can teach the Nameless One alchemy and the production of medicinal elixirs.
-
Isgar - a healer, the only one not working in the infected quarter. His alchemical laboratory is located at the marketplace. He can sell herbs and alchemical ingredients to the Nameless One. He collaborates with thieves and prepares sleeping wine for Gerion during one of their expeditions.
-
Odo - a helper of the healer, taking care of the infected by giving them marsh grass. One of them bites him in the leg, causing significant injury. He selflessly gives the Nameless One the key to the blacksmith Bartok's chest.
-
Otmar - also a helper of the healers, sitting in a tent with Talamon.
-
Berengar - the commander of the home guard formed by Diego. Aggressive and rough, he refuses to teach the Nameless One and refers him to Lieutenant Cassian. He burns with hatred towards the king.
-
Cassian - a lieutenant of the home guard and combat instructor who trains recruits in the castle square. He can teach the Nameless One to fight with one-handed weapons and help him increase his strength. He also assigns him to steal silver from the merchant Agon.
-
Brutus - a lieutenant of the home guard, also one of the gladiators. He thinks Cassian is not suited for the position of lieutenant, criticizes him, and would like to duel him in the arena.
-
Hyglas - a member of the home guard, delivering speeches in the castle square. He was probably a soldier before. He distrusts the mages and blames them for the disaster in creating the barrier and blowing up the ore mound. When the Nameless One starts talking to him about this topic, he begins to behave friendly towards the hero and offers to help him deal with them.
-
Arena Master - unknown name, manages the arena and organizes fights. He offers the Nameless One to become a gladiator, enticing him with wealth and fame.
-
Halvor - the castle cook, competing with Snaf and taking over his customers. He is associated with a task. By helping Snaf regain his lost customers, the Nameless One can steal his secret recipe or spread rumors among the fighters tarnishing his culinary skills. He also sells soups.
-
Osbert - a home guard guarding the floor of the former baron's house. He stops the Nameless One and threatens him with the consequences of theft.
-
Julius - a home guard, takes care of the castle forge, which was abandoned after Bartok fell ill. He informs the Nameless One where the blacksmith's tools are located.
-
Wylfren - a recruit of the home guard, formerly a digger. He trains on the castle square during the day. When accompanying the diggers to the camp, he was attacked by goblins. He can lead the Nameless One to this place while searching for bloody ore.
-
Calgor - a home guard, probably a recruit judging by his light armor. He patrols around the arena. He has zero tolerance for thieves and beggars in the camp and also speaks negatively about the home guard.
-
Grim - the lowest-ranked gladiator in the arena. He is a digger and wields a pickaxe in combat. He has lost a lot of silver on bets.
-
Sylvestr - a digger in the Old Camp. After losing the mine, he is looking for new work. The Nameless One can lead him to a cave with ore deposits in front of the northern gate of the camp. In search of bloody ore, he gives up several nuggets of this rare resource in exchange for a sword.
-
Pedro - a dead digger, killed during an ambush in the western part of the forest while returning to the Old Camp. He owns the bloody ore.
-
Ryan - once a courier of the fire mage Morogh, he supplied him with herbs for alchemical experiments. For unknown reasons, he quit his job and sits in the marketplace in the Old Camp.
-
Bromor - the chief of the laborers, overseeing the work on fortifying the walls. Other workers consider him a workaholic, and some of those who work for him do not have a good opinion of him. He has a keen interest in trophies, and the Nameless One can sell him shadowbeast skins and horns.
-
Gotmar - the blacksmith in the Old Camp. His forge is located near the north gate. He forges weapons for the home guard, and due to the resignation of his apprentice Goliath, he can barely keep up with production. He can teach the Nameless One blacksmithing and forge up to four weapons, but not for free.
-
Agon - a merchant to whom everyone in the marketplace is subordinate. He is greedy and covetous and has a panic fear of diseases. He was robbed by Huldrych. He can sell the Nameless One the recipe for the disease cure.
-
Goliath - one of the gladiators and Gotmar's former apprentice. He ranks fifth in the arena leaderboard. He can return to the forge if the Nameless One ranks higher in the leaderboard than him and convinces him to return to his old job.
-
Gordian - a scribe and writer, his shack is located at the marketplace. He helps the healers by searching the library in Innos' temple in the castle and studying the books there. He can transcribe a book of alchemical recipes for the Nameless One.
-
Ruga - an armorer living in the marketplace. He makes armor for the home guard and can sell digger pants to the Nameless One.

Points of interest
-
The Gothic Sequel files leaked onto the internet on August 30, 2017, via the YouTube user Suez Channel.
-
On December 15, 2017, the Polish version created by the SequelPL team was released.
-
The latest version 2.21 fixes several bugs and adds dialogues from a newer version.
-
Many characters appearing in Gothic II were given character names from the Sequel.
-
During the development phase of the add-on, Khorinis was supposed to be part of the continent.
-
The intro of the Gothic II add-on is very similar to the intro of the Gothic Sequel add-on, mainly because large parts of the Gothic Sequel intro were used in the final version of the second installment.
-
A remnant of the Gothic Sequel plot is a fragment of a conversation with Hyglas, in which the mage talks about weakening dimensional structures.
-
The add-on was supposed to implement a trade management system, including the management of magic ore mines.
-
Thorus' hair has animations.
-
In a cinematic clip in the game Gothic II showing a sexual scene with Nadja, the Nameless Hero is partnered with a woman with Thorus' model.
-
In the first installment, a character named Ryan was originally supposed to appear, but was removed. Characters have new open hand models, which were not introduced in Gothic II.
-
The game contains a quest similar to the Chromanin quest from the first installment, involving eight books written by Corrist leading to a secret room with treasure under the Innos temple at the castle.
-
The magical barrier is still present in the game. It is likely that at this stage of production, the developers decided not to remove it yet because they were busy with other things, and the barrier itself was supposed to be removed later, as it was destroyed according to the add-on's story.
-
Demons likely had several casts. This is evidenced by the fact that in the add-on files, many more sound files belonging to demons can be found than in the base game.
-
Two of them contain highly distorted words titled "Die" with numbers from 1 to 2.
-
The earthquake sound and effect were supposed to appear in the sequel. However, for known reasons, it only appeared in the Night of the Raven game.
-
Additionally, there was supposed to be an option to pray to deities (likely to Innos). - In the files, a sound named "Goodie" can be found, which resembles a commonly used sound in various productions accompanying sacred moments.
-
The authors intended to add the phenomenon of a hurricane. In the game, a sound with the corresponding name can be found.

9. September 2022 - Helmets
As we know, they were originally supposed to appear in the first Gothic. In Gothic 2 there are only a few of them and they are only part of the armour, not a separate piece of equipment. In the sequel, more of them were supposed to be available. That's exactly what we did.
In addition to the helmets typical of warriors, which provide essential protection in combat, there will also be headgear for mages. Like the robes, they provide protection against magic and the elements, but in their better versions they will provide various bonuses. Many of the helmets we have created will be worn by NPCs as well.

Today we will share two pieces of information with you. First, we are preparing material for our YT channel. Nothing big for now, we'll get to the specifics in time. Second and most importantly, our team has recently expanded. A full soundtrack is being created for Sequel. We'll reveal details when the music is more fleshed out.
30. June 2023
Orcs play an important role in the sequel, so they need more variety, lots of AI improvements and a set of new animations. We've put together a short video showing some of the new animations and object interactions that the orcs perform. The animations still need to be tweaked, but already the orcs are doing much more than just standing and propping up a wall like they did in Gothic 2.
2. September 2023
At the end of September, we will present a renewed version of the Mountain Fortress. We will also present excerpts from our soundtrack.
16. September 2023
New testers have joined our team: Creed, JC Optik and Sylvester. They have released an early, edited test build of the Gothic sequel especially for you to try out. From now on, we plan to upload test builds of the project so you can test the modifications yourself and give suggestions and bug reports. The build does not yet contain all the content that is already completed. Let us know in the comments what we could improve. We hope you enjoy the game. As for yesterday's test build, the most frequently reported technical issues were due to one of the testers neglecting to prepare everything properly for release, we've fixed that and you can download the mixed version. We'd like to thank you again for such a great traffic to the site since yesterday, it motivates us to keep working! Thanks also to one of the testers who took the initiative to publish this build. We wish you an enjoyable game and see you again soon! Link here - https://mega.nz/file/ChcgHLqY#6sn8lVU_cVenrYio3eRX8PgTs74FZmY7ecKDbk7vJCI

A video from the mountain fortress has just been posted on our YouTube channel! We presented the already completed location with NPCs. In the video you can also hear the main theme of this location. This is not the final version of the song and may still change. If you haven't subscribed to the channel yet, you can find the link in the pinned post.
7. October 2023
Not counting the old friends, there are a lot of new characters in the sequel. Among them, of course, are some who play an important role in the game. Without a unique appearance, an important character has no right to exist. We have created new faces for these people. Below are some of them. By the way, we want to thank you for such a great response to our survey. In addition to reporting specific bugs (some of which we have already managed to fix), we also received quite a few suggestions and ideas, which we will of course take into account in the further development of the mod.
22. October 2023
We have more English-speaking fans lately. Because Facebook's automatic translation is not working well, we will now also post all news in English. We have also translated older posts. We are planning to release an English version of our modification, but we will take care of the translation after the release.
23. December 2023
We wish you a Merry Christmas! Our gift to you this year is a short video from New Camp with an excerpt from our soundtrack.
11. February 2024
Our first post of the year. We've got quite a lot planned for the next few months and are currently focusing on fine-tuning the map, so you can be sure we'll be introducing the rest of the big locations in the near future.
