Gothic 2: New Balance Celebrates 8 Years of Development — and When Will the Big Update Be?

On December 14, it has been exactly 8 years since the start of development of the Alternative Balance project, which has continued under the name New Balance since 2020. It is a project and a modification that originated from the Returning 2.0 mod and was gradually improved into its current form by new authors such as Liker and Haart.

New Balance is currently at version 6.0.32 (I usually list versions by date to make things clearer for regular people, just as a fun fact). At the same time, since the days of Returning, more than 6,000 changes have already been made in New Balance, and of course a lot of new content has been added.

As for the update with the Warrior of Adanos, work on it is ongoing, but as usual it is progressing slowly due to external circumstances. The tentative release window is the end of February to March 2026.

Unfortunately, there is also a delay with the plugin that modifies the “karma” system; it will not be released this year.
