Gothic 2: Other Story – Development Status Report + Screenshots

We would like to announce that we have returned from our summer vacation and are now fully continuing our work on the modification. During this time, even though at a slower pace, we managed to accomplish quite a lot, which we will talk about below.


But before that, we would like to make a small announcement – in October we plan to release the second part of the development diaries.


And now, let’s actually talk about the work done:


  1. A significant role for us is played by the addition of new animations. This concerns not only combat, but also everyday animations, interactions with the world and objects. At this point, several of these animations are already done, but this is not everything we plan to add to the mod.

  2. We have also added cut animations from Gothic 2, which existed in the first part. These are mainly stances and walks, which have also been transferred to our new template. Some interactive objects from the first Gothic have also found their way into the mod.

  3. For some this will be good news, for others maybe not so much: I decided to abandon the animation remaster (Humans Remaster by Alex Draven). There are actually quite a few reasons for this – both technical and visual. Therefore, we returned to the original animations and skeleton, on which all new improvements are now based. In my spare time, I also work on the mod’s armors and continue to improve them. In addition to adapting to new bones, I am also enhancing all the original armors – from rigging, to UV layouts, to fixing the meshes.

  4. Speaking of armors, I must also mention the work on textures. It turned out to be quite an interesting topic for me and it seems to be going quite well. So far, I have reworked 12 sets of armor and clothing (Boosty supporters may have already seen some of this). Also, new male bodies and the hero’s starting rags, which are now part of the equipment, have been added.

  5. For Jharkendar, a new enemy has been created, which, in addition to its base form, also has a unique subspecies differing not only in stats but also in visuals.

  6. In the 3D department, staffs for fire mages, the Rings of Water, and also a unique staff for the late stage of the game have been updated. Next in line are staffs for water mages.

  7. Weapon and armor stats information has been put in order. Now everything is clear and easy to read, with some new features as well.

  8. Many new faces have been created for NPCs, both key ones and less important ones.

  9. There has also been significant progress in the storyline, but now let’s focus specifically on Drakia. The main story of Drakia is FULLY written, reviewed, and prepared for implementation in the mod. Currently, materials are being prepared and concepts for side quests and quest lines are being developed. We will share more about this in the future.
