Gothic Online - RIP Vargoth (server shut down :D)

Hey everyone, I've got a bit of an update for you. We originally planned to create a Czech translation for this Polish Gothic MMORPG server, but the project fell apart a few days ago—much like Mordan MMORPG, which we used to play on YouTube. The owner, who was financing the project, decided to step down for family reasons, leaving the future of the server up in the air.
I had some brief negotiations with them and considered taking the server under the wings of Myrtana. However, I eventually decided against it—the operating costs were disproportionately high considering the low player count, and it wasn't hitting the 200 concurrent players mark. Plus, in my opinion, a lot of things were poorly coded and didn't function quite right (obviously, I’d have done it better :D).
Shortly after that, the Polish team had a falling out and officially shut down the project. Some remaining members are reportedly planning to build a new, "better" server, so we'll see what comes of that. I’ll keep you posted.
Building a community for a new server is tough these days. The dominant player is Axyl (Gothico-Metin), which easily maintains over 150 players (as I’m writing this, there are 203 players online). Running a project like this is simply demanding—you have to constantly fix bugs and feed players new content, max levels, and events just to keep it alive. Once the work stops, the server is done for.
So, RIP Vargoth, but I’ll be showing you some other interesting projects soon!
