Recently, I shared news here about the GothicCraft project, which involves bringing the Gothic game into the Minecraft engine. Although I haven't yet added this project to the 'Mods in Development' section (even though it's not exactly a mod), I plan to do so soon. If you're interested in the previous article, you can find more details and a few screenshots from the project here: https://www.myrtana.net/en/post/gothic-remake-in-minecraft-gothic-in-the-minecraft-engine
Latest update from the project (author's post on VK):
I've been pondering for a long time about how best to implement trees in this project. In theory, I could use existing models from Gothic, but they don't quite fit into the cubic style of the world. Nevertheless, I plan to use them selectively.
In reality, I don't have many options:
Create custom tree models myself.
Construct a block-based structure, where each tree is manually assembled from individual blocks, with each block being a separate model of branches and foliage.
Ultimately, I decided to use an old tree-generation mod. Although it's somewhat blocky, I improved the leaf models, making the tree crowns look much better now. This isn't the final version; stability will need testing in the future, but for now, I'm planning trees in this form.
