Gothic 2: New Balance - EthernalBreeze
Modification Type - New Balance Mod Upgrade

Mod Information
This mod is focused on expanding the gameplay aspect of the original New Balance. The changes primarily focus on the magical side, but are not limited to it. The main idea is that magic in a fantasy world is more accessible than it is presented in Gothic, and the world itself is under the influence of magic in a more obvious form. This leads to magical mutations of common animals and monsters, and items can acquire amazing magical properties that were previously unknown.
The ideas for the mod were inspired by various popular RPGs, such as Skyrim, Morrowind, Oblivion, Diablo, Path of Exile, and other similar projects.
For those who are not in the loop – this mod is a continuation of Magic Rebalance, though it is now called EthernalBreeze. Compared to previous versions, many changes have been made, from completely rewritten code from scratch to the logic behind the mechanics. Not to mention a lot of new content. I would also like to note that part of the code was written in Union; those interested will find the link to the source code below.
I also want to emphasize – this is still a beta version! Although the mod has undergone public alpha testing and seems playable, it may still contain some bugs and even crashes. Save your game frequently and ideally in different slots.
Characteristics
-
Magically Affected Monsters — Regular monsters can now gain magical mutations in the form of prefixes, suffixes, and affixes that modify their attributes and add new abilities depending on their tier and acquired affixes.
-
Random Items — Just like in many games inspired by Diablo, magical items with various properties and inherent statistics now appear in the world of Gothic. Destroy hundreds of dark armies, annihilate dozens of dark lords, and obtain truly magical unique items! Now it’s possible!
-
Random Potions — Similar to items, these have different effects and durations. Become an alchemist!
-
World Randomness — Are you tired of being able to walk through Gothic blindfolded with your hands behind your back, equipped only with a staff, even on the highest difficulty? This mod adds a certain probability of random monsters appearing in random locations. NPC statistics have slight variations, and the number of enemies may change due to the duplication of existing ones. Traders will have new random items every week. The world becomes livelier and more dynamic.
-
Schools of Magic and Mastery — 16 schools of magic and skills have been added to the game, each with 16 perks. Develop your character as you wish, become a master of magic or an unbeatable warrior. Or both!
-
New Stats — More than 250 different statistics have been added for the main hero, with some also for NPCs.
-
Corruption Mechanic — At the beginning of the game, you can find the Corruption Scroll and become a corrupted mage, warrior, or archer. These archetypes have their own disadvantages, bonuses, and unique development branches.
-
New Skills — In addition to the 256 skills from the mastery branches, 40 more general skills have been added.
-
Energy Shield and Evasion — NPCs and the main hero can now use new defense mechanics. The energy shield absorbs damage before health is affected, and evasion allows you to completely avoid a hit.
-
Auras — Over 70 auras have been added that reserve life, mana, or stamina in exchange for bonuses. A classic of the genre, now coming to Gothic.
-
New Spells — 30 new spells have been added, mostly focused on summoning, buffs, and debuffs. Finally, there are spells with long-term effects!
-
Developing Artifacts — Artifacts can now be upgraded with your experience, gaining new bonuses with each level. You can develop them using components, or settle for classic artifacts with permanent bonuses.
-
Crafting System — Currently only for scrolls, but all of them! You can now create any scroll in the game. Future plans include adding enchanting and more complex alchemy inspired by the TES series.
-
Configuration — All of the above can be configured directly in the game. Customize the mod to your liking without bothering the author with balancing!
-
And much more!

More configuration
Although most aspects of the mod can be adjusted directly in the game through dialogs or by selecting presets, you can also use configuration files:
File EthernalBreeze_UserConfigs.d
Open it with any text editor and modify the values according to the comments.
To apply changes, you need to manually load the configuration in the dialog or select it when starting the game.
File EthernalBreeze_UserTweaks.d
Contains a list of global constants that can be modified at your discretion. However, these values were not designed to be changed, so modify them carefully.
File StExt_ItemGeneratorConfigs.json
This file defines the parameters for the item generator. You can customize it, but improper syntax will cause the game to crash at startup.
Note: Make all modifications only when the game is turned off. Otherwise, the changes may not take effect or may cause game instability or crashes.
