Gothic 2: New Balance - General Style of Armor

Graphic Pack – Texture Pack

Mod Information

Hi everyone!
My name is Selenor, and I’d like to gradually (okay, a lot – but step by step) improve the armor textures in New Balance. I’ve been playing New Balance for a long time and can’t imagine Gothic without it anymore. However, there were times when I got a new armor (especially after reforging it) and ended up quitting the game. Back then, I couldn’t do anything about it. Since then, I’ve improved a bit in Paint.NET (still a noob, just a patient one), and I finally figured out how to change textures in Gothic 2.

I’ve done quite a bit, but definitely not everything. Right now, other things require my attention, so I’m releasing the current state as version 1.0. It’s a bit heavier than it could be, but I don’t have time to polish it further at the moment.

This version includes a patch by dk5810 that makes helmets invisible! You still get the bonuses, but helmets won’t show – preventing visual clashes with the old armor textures.

I’ve reworked nearly all the armors of the main factions: militia, knights, paladins (especially knights and paladins!!!), demon hunters, dark warriors, hunters, scouts… I only slightly touched the mages – just the fire ones for now. Everything I’ve finished so far looks solid and makes my old perfectionist eyes very happy.

Patch – General Style of Armor

The mod also updates mushrooms – they now resemble the style from Gothic 2. These aren’t original textures but lightly redrawn ones, just like I remembered them back when I launched the game in 2005.

It also includes a little gem – my April Fools’ mod for the wooden stick. The regular wooden stick now looks like it used to – maybe even better. Joke or not, the sticks look so good now that it almost feels wrong to sell them.

Special thanks to Blackmail01 who helped me with scripting.

Instalation

You will need a properly installed Gothic 2 with New Balance.
Copy the files from the Data folder into ...\Gothic II\Data (this is the actual texture pack).
Copy the file from the Autorun folder into ...\Gothic II\system\Autorun (this adjusts the outfits of some characters — otherwise, Radames’s ghost will appear in demon hunter armor).

Enjoy the game!
