Gothic 2: New Balance – 4 Updates + New Czech Translation

(For Cz/Sk)

Hi, I’ve been away for the last 4 days, so no work was done during that time. I’m bringing the latest updates of the New Balance mod and a fairly improved Czech localization, mainly in terms of dialogues and journal entries. You’re welcome to report any text errors in New Balance on Discord — after the break I’ll be focusing on it again, so I’ll be happy to fix the translation further.


I’ve also started translating the Regular Quests submod for New Balance, which adds daily activities and tasks. We are at least 50 versions behind due to the complexity of translating this submod. The translation process is different from standard mods and is very time-consuming. I’d like to finish the translation so I can then test it during my next New Balance playthrough on YouTube.


Update 6.0.38 (as of 10/01/26)

  • Fixed melee damage of the Red Dragon on Irdorath; it was too low

  • Reduced damage from swamp shark spit by 20% (new monster abilities mode only). Applies to both types of spit

  • Introduced a restriction preventing dialogue interruption with some NPCs, as this could block certain bosses

  • New stamina system: fixed an issue with stamina while swimming underwater. When it ran out, the character could get stuck or fall underwater and die

  • Improved display of the Guardian skill that increases critical hit chance. It is now shown in the character stats


Update 6.0.37 (as of 07/01/26)

  • Fixed a spell collision bug that caused some monsters not to receive area damage from player spells (Fire Storm, Fire Shock, and similar spells did not work on some undead creatures) (bug present since August 2025)

  • Fixed a bug: summoned boars no longer teleport after the player across locations (Druid)

  • Shadow Masyafs can now also inflict poison when attacking the player

  • Wrath of Beliar plugin: no creatures will now spawn near the arena in the Coastal Lands

  • Minor text fixes


Update 6.0.36 (as of 01/01/26)

  • Possibly fixed a rare sound-related crash caused by zCSndFrame SetDefaultProperties

  • Improved display of some documents; some were not centered correctly or had incorrect sizes

  • Thekla now also gives soup to a Paladin player in Chapter 3

  • The Dexterity sword “Moonshine” now has 18% armor penetration

  • Minor bug fixes

  • Slightly reduced Dark Servant health scaling based on the hero’s level

  • Fixed damage values of the “Mercenary Crossbow,” which were missing from the crossbow damage list

  • Added several entries for some armors

  • Fixed a bug: Fingers now reacts correctly to using the warehouse crane in Azgan

  • Fixed a bug: mining skeletons no longer react to zombies (transformation)

  • Fixed the price of gold smelting training in ASnC mode

  • Improved the map of Adanos’ Desert

  • Added a map of the Orcs’ Ice Mountains (new game if the location was already visited)

  • Added a map of the Valley of Shadows (new game if the location was already visited)

  • You can now help Oddler finish his hut (Orcs’ Ice Mountains; new game if the location was already visited)

  • Fixed a bug: the regular shield did not work if the player was a Demon Hunter and had learned the Magic Shield (Spirit Shield). This effect blocked shield blocking; now fixed

  • Fixed dialogue with Asmal and the duel challenge; it got stuck after a recent fix

  • Reduced the number of skeleton archers near the Swamp Camp temple

  • Sagitta is now invulnerable until Chapter 4; she can be defeated but not killed (new game)

  • Fixed a bug: skeleton archers now react correctly to player transformations into animals

  • Fixed a bug with a swarm that put the hero to sleep; sometimes it disappeared on use and the script did not trigger

  • Brotherhood Templars – added a new unique passive skill: +10% melee critical hit chance, does not affect animation, learned from the Templar master

  • Water Mages received a passive mana regeneration bonus of +1 (including novices)
