Gothic 2: New Balance - New submod: New quests for NB version 0.0.5

This is an early stage project, there are bugs in the mod! I have translated the modification from the original Russian into Czech, the English version is not in my power to do, I have a lot of things, however, who would like, you can translate this mod yourself, you can find the link below.


Hello, we have another update here, which is a new emerging mod for New Balance. This mod brings new tasks and various daily errands to New Balance, including interactions, item acquisitions, and other activities described below. The goal of this mod is to enrich the world of New Balance with tasks and add various daily profitable activities and actions – for example, hunting wolves with Bartok, buying grapes at the monastery, selling beer, fish, and other items. This allows you to collect more items than in the base NB, gain more experience, and so on. This mod appeared a few days ago as a novelty on a Russian forum. I've tried the mod myself and I must warn you, it's in an early stage and many things are unfinished, in progress, etc. There are quite a few bugs (dialogs may trigger twice or at the wrong time, the quest with Bromor might initially say it failed and Bromor may attack you, but you can escape and then take the quest and complete it normally), but it actually kind of works and you can buy and sell new items and do other things described below.


- I've translated the whole thing into Czech, which is probably the first community besides the original Russian one to have it, everything is without diacritics so far.


I must say, a similar idea crossed my mind once, but since I'm not a programmer, I couldn't realize it – the idea of filling New Balance with daily tasks, adding tasks to guilds, which are quite austere, and introducing various daily hunting contracts, utilizing unnecessary items, and turning New Balance into something like GTA: New Balance 😄.


However, it has its limitations. The author of the New Balance mod, Liker, mentioned that there is a limited number of INT-type variables in New Balance, with only about 200-300 available. If this limit is exceeded, the game starts crashing (programming stuff). This mod has already used up more than 70 of these variables. However, if the mod were to expand, Liker stated that he could clear out unnecessary variables or possibly find another solution, but I'm not sure about that – I'm not a programmer.


We'll see whether the author of this mod continues with it and whether it evolves further or not, and whether the project ends. The mod author has big ambitions for what could still be completed and accomplished, but we'll see how it all turns out.



Here is a list of quests and things this mod adds to the game and my descriptions:


  • Added the option at Viper's to occupy freed mines with ore income (each mine provides 20 iron pieces).

  • Mine south of the port (kill all bandits).

  • Mine in the cave behind Akila's yard (kill all bandits).

  • Mine near Skaipa (kill all bandits).

  • Mine in the cave near the "Dead Harpy" tavern (complete Greg's quest and dig the grave in the mine).

  • Added meat, beer, and fish buyout for Orlan.

  • Added 3 guards at the port.

  • Added Luter's dialogue regarding the Bank with 1% daily interest rate. (Although it's just the skeleton of future functionality) Later, a standalone NPC bank will be available, and after completing 2-3 tasks in the merchants' guild, another quest line will follow.

  • Thekla now sells 1 loaf of bread daily (amount accumulates if not purchased daily). (Great for baking pies)

  • Agon sells 1 bunch of grapes daily (quantity accumulates if not bought daily) - Great for making wine.

  • Added dialogue for Mika with escort to Akila's farm once a day, encountering 2 wolves.

  • Added dialogue with Bartok for joint hunting every 2 days. Wolves appear each time.

  • Onar. Investigating salary amount if we are a mercenary (test).

  • Permanent quest for Bennett to purchase 100 pieces of iron ore every 2 days.

  • Wasil - After agreeing on the sale of old coins, he will ask us to bring him 3 scrolls of forgetfulness and 1 scroll of magical lockpicking. In return, he will buy old coins for 1 gold each. (+10 to your salary if you are a mercenary).

  • Gunnar sleeps poorly and asks you to bring him 3 bottles of wine. (+5 to your salary if you are a mercenary).

  • Maria asks you to bring her 3 chicks and 3 brushes. (+15 to your salary if you are a mercenary).

  • Bring Thekla 2 baking shovels, 2 salts, 2 pans, and 2 ladles. (+15 to your salary if you are a mercenary).

  • Sekob asks you to kill 4 wolves near his farm. (Upon completing the task, another quest will appear).

  • Major Task - Cipher. After receiving a package of grass, he offers to sell joints in the city. First, we need to secure grass supplies. To do this, we must visit the seller Talas at the Brotherhood camp and 3 novice camps growing grass at Lobart, at Akila (upstairs), and near the lake by the black troll. We will negotiate our share of the grass sales with him. 60% (70 - rhetoric 15) (80 - rhetoric 30) The selling price of grass is 20. After agreeing on the price, a portion from each sale will accumulate, which we must hand over to Eva. Once every 3 days, a permanent dialog with Cipher will be activated when he sees us. If we don't see Cipher for 7 days, a dialog will be activated with Cassii, who will say that Cipher is waiting for us, and if we don't return the money within 2 days, she will tell Andrem about my business. If this happens, when visiting Andrem, he will say that we are criminals and will move on to killing us. If you kill Cipher, Cassia will demand an additional 2500 gold. If you kill her, you won't owe anyone

  • .Talas - The Brotherhood has a pot dealer. Once Cipher has given this quest, even if you complete it, a dialogue with him will feature a quest to trade 10 pieces a day (either for gold or raw meat) of mud with him. He will ask you to bring him the goods Cipher promised. Go to Cipher and ask for it, he will send you to the camp near Onar's farm, there are snappers there and this package is there, take it and return to Talas (even if you complete this quest and tell Cipher you found the package, you'll also get some experience) Go back to Talas and complete this quest and you'll be able to trade your daily grass for meat or gold, whichever you choose (10 plants for 10 raw meat/10 plants for 50 gold). For example, you have not been there for 3 days, then 30 grasses for 30 raw meat will be exchanged)(in the future I will revise the amount of grasses per day if there is a profit skew)

  • .Shrat(a newcomer growing grass on Lobart's farm). Shrat asks for food and supplies for his habitat permanently and wants Lobart to do it. We go to Lobart (he is not as enthusiastic as usual) and talk to him. He complains that his workers are constantly distracted by the animals and are afraid to work. Lobart agrees to give Shrat if Lord Andre sends 2 guards to protect the farm, then his workers will feel safer and be able to work better and do more good for the town. We go to Andre and tell him all about it. He tells us that he can't spare any guards right now because he's tasked with killing the orc scouts, and tells us to talk to Wulfgar. Wulfgar says he has everything ready, and asks us to meet him at the south gate. We go there, once we reach the gate, Wulfgar tells us to move, and the party heads into the forest. Unable to reach the orcs, Wulfgar starts a dialogue with us and the party moves on. With the orcs easily slaughtered, we approach Wulfgar and he says the task is complete and we can return. We go to Andre and tell him it's done. He sends guards to Lobart. we go to Lobart, he is satisfied. we go to Shrat - mission accomplished, exchange available ( I realize the hero does nothing in this mission, but I will complete the mission later, for now it is just a skeleton).

  • .Gor Hanis (novices growing grass on Akil's farm). Talk to him and in the dialogue remember how we fought him in the arena of the old camp in the Mining Valley. immediately after the dialogue he starts fighting. If you defeat him, he agrees to supply you with 3 free grasses for a day. if you lose, you can try to challenge him to fight again(I'm lame as a scriptwriter and implemented the challenge to fight wrong, sometimes it seems like your fight goes unnoticed, once I know how to fix the problem, I'll fix it) save for now before this fight.

  • .Balam (newbie growing grass by the lake near the black troll) Talk to him and remember he was a cook at Gomez's (it's not clear from the lore if he is or isn't, but I'm sticking with the NPC name and Balam was a cook at Gomez's), ask him to sell the grass, he'll ask us to clean the cave next to him. We go to the cave, kill the black goblins, talk to him. We go back to his camp, talk to him. Mission accomplished, exchange available.

  • .Cipher. Once we have four suppliers, we'll tell Cipher He will then task us with getting permission to trade joints in the harbor from the thieves guild, the brothel, and Pablo the guard. If any of them are dead at the time of the task, then their permission is not needed. If all 3 are dead, then trading weed in the harbor will be possible without permission.

  • .Bromor asks us to escort his girl Katya from the Dead Harpy Inn to the brothel. We lead her to the brothel and on the way bandits appear. If they kill her, Bromor will attack us and subsequently the failure of this task will make it difficult to agree to sell the weed.


Download and unzip the file Nové úkoly 0.0.5 - CZECH.rar Insert the quest file into the Autorun folder, located in the System folder (click Autorun and paste it there). If you want to uninstall the mod, just delete this file.
