Gothic 2: New Balance - Update 11.3.2025 and 12.3.2025

  1. 6 new runes have been added to the game.

    • All of them are available to study in the 2nd circle (to learn them, you must know the corresponding spell from the 1st circle).

    • Each rune has a unique effect and will be useful throughout the entire game.

    • You will receive the rune immediately after learning it.

    • These runes do not replace the standard runes but rather complement the gameplay for mages.



Fire Mage – Pyrokinesis, with a chance to ignite or stun the target.

Water Mage – Electrokinesis, attacks with lightning that hits neighboring targets; the further the target, the lower the damage (on DX7 - original Gothic graphics), the lightning may disappear, we will try to fix this in future patches.

Water Mage – Cryokinesis, deals low damage and slows the enemy; primarily used to slow down the opponent.

Guru – Strangulation, has a chance to throw the target or cause levitation, does not work on dragons; the larger the opponent, the lower the chance.

Necromancer – Mind Suppression, temporarily lowers the defense and attack of the opponent, reduces their turning speed, and prevents teleportation.

Dark Mage – Mind Subjugation, temporarily lowers the defense and attack of the opponent, their turning speed, and prevents teleportation.


  1. The issue with the hero's slow movement after loading a saved game may have been fixed.

  2. Learning the "Magical Lock Opening" scroll from Gallahad is now cheaper in gold.

  3. The blessed two-handed paladin sword "Holy Executor" has been slightly strengthened.

  4. The response of Wirt in the militia barracks has been fixed.

  5. The militia's response to looting chests in the barracks has been fixed; they now correctly react to theft.

  6. The bug with the "Fear" spell has been fixed.

  7. The bug with the protection potion from strikes, which could cause the hero to fall unconscious, has been fixed.

  8. The bug, which caused necromancer Terokar to not give knowledge points in the arena, has been fixed.

  9. The bug that could cause the game to crash during a sidestep while casting a spell has been fixed.

  10. The texture bug for Ulu-Mulu has been fixed.

  11. The bug that could cause the game to crash when walking sideways while using magic has been fixed.

  12. The texture bug for Ulu-Mulu has been fixed.

  13. Fixes have been made to some dialogue texts.

  14. Alrik now teaches shield use after the first won duel.

  15. The bug with the change of Lares' armor has been fixed, and he will no longer walk around bare-chested...

  16. Weapon visual effects (used by Gallahad) now have the option to follow the weapon model in %. This means the effect can follow with a delay (if set to 0%) or can be fully updated along with the weapon's position (if set to 100%). This new option has been added to the menu.

  17. A new visual effect "Dark Smoke" with three color variants has been added for Gallahad's weapons.

  18. The appearance of all Ice Mage spells has been updated. Older spells (4th circle and above) now have additional visual effects. These effects can be turned off in the menu. The appearance of the 1st circle lightning spell has also been updated.

  19. The flight speed of some Ice Mage spells has been increased.

  20. The bug where fire spirits did not have lanterns like regular spirits has been fixed.

  21. Early Masyaf armor now has higher weight, lower health bonus, and 10 less physical protection (the same for the forged version).

  22. The chance of catching something valuable while fishing has been increased, and now you can also catch aquamarine.

  23. The bugs while learning cursed runes have been fixed.



  • As for the Czech language... I’ve fixed a lot of the so-called “clicky accents” that appeared in the translation (Äîëčíó Đóäíčęîâ, ń ęîíâîĺě ęŕňîđćíčę). The thing is, with this pace of updates, I have to translate about 200 lines every week, which either get added or require me to retranslate something that was already translated but has changed in the original. It’s quite frustrating work, searching for these lines in 108 thousand lines, so please excuse me if they occasionally pop up. I’ll fix them as I have time – most of them are already corrected.


  • As for the English translation for foreign players – All changes will be available in the game on the given date once the author of the English translation updates their translation. In the scripts, where the entire translation is included, the full game version is also included, so it always depends on the person releasing those scripts. So if you’re using the English version from Nexus Mods, you need to check the LAST UPDATED date – any changes from a newer version than that date won’t be available there yet.
