Hi, I have a map and a longer article for you. If you are a fan of hand-drawn maps from the world of Gothic, you should definitely pay attention to this.
The map was created by the user IchheisseMarvin1 and was originally posted on Reddit, where I took it from.
His commentary on the map was translated using AI.

I actually created this map some time ago, because I was preparing a Gothic-themed DnD campaign for friends and wanted the world to have a larger scope and a deeper background. I included Risen, many mods, and other fan projects I am familiar with in the worldbuilding.
Yesterday I came across a post discussing what a complete world map of the Gothic universe could look like, and it reminded me of this old project of mine.
I thought people might be interested in seeing the map, so I decided to share it. Below, I have included explanations of where the different locations shown on the map come from. Unfortunately, I originally created the map in German, but I added translations to the explanations where I felt they might be helpful.
So let me ask you: Are there any mods I haven’t added yet that you feel absolutely should be included?Maybe in the future we could create something like an “ultimate Gothic mod map.”
Explanations for some of the locations
Additions from the official Gothic canon that may not be known to everyone:
Midland → Name of the Gothic continent as given in Arcania
Tirith and Initria → From the Gothic mobile game
Nordlande (Northlands) → Homeland of the mainland Orcs in Gothic 3
Sendar → Milten’s home city according to the Gothic comic→ The location of this place is never mentioned in the comic; I interpreted it as an island in the Eastern Archipelago
Das Unbekannte Land (Unknown Land) → Region west of Myrtana→ Still part of the continent, but no one was ever able to reach it→ It only becomes accessible at the end of Gothic 3 if you choose the Xardas ending
I also included content from Arcania (Argaan, Korshaan, Torgaan, Feshyr).
Additions from Risen:
Arborea → Southern continent in Risen 2/3
Calador, Takarigua, Antigua, Taranis, Kilá, Nebelinsel (Fog Island), Insel der Diebe (Island of Thieves), Totenkopfinsel (Skull Island), Insel der Toten (Island of the Dead), Sturminsel (Island of Storms), Schwertküste (Sword Coast), Bucht von Maracai (Bay of Maracai), Krabbenküste (Crab Coast), Caldera→ Locations / islands from Risen 2/3
Faranga Islands → The island chain from Risen 1→ Faranga, the main island, is where Risen 1 takes place
Gaurus → Home island of the Risen 1/2 protagonist according to promotional material released before Risen 1
Harlan → Mentioned by Romanov in Risen 1→ Interpreted by me as a country / island
Croazim → Also mentioned by Romanov in Risen 1→ Interpreted by me as a kingdom / city
Gothic:
Syrianische Inseln (Syrianic Islands)→ In Gothic 1, there is an unused item called “Syrianisches Öl” (Syrianic Oil)
Erzburg→ A name I came up with for the castle of the Old Camp
Westfeld→ Name for the Mountain Fortress in Gothic 1/2→ Westfeld is the name of the noble family that owned the castle (mentioned in Gothic 1 in the ownership diploma)
Kahr→ A noble fiefdom mentioned on one of the graves in Gothic 2 (Freiherr Simbus von Kahr)→ I interpreted it as Onar’s land→ This makes Onar the heir of Baron Simbus of Kahr
Siegburg, Sorn, Waldfried→ Noble fiefdoms mentioned on graves in Gothic 2→ I named cities on the Khor Islands after them
Orcs in Jharkendar→ The region is not explored in Gothic 2, but people KNOW that something is there→ I decided that people might believe Orcs live there→ (In Gothic 2, there actually is an Orc tribe living there)
Lantyr→ In Fall of Setarrif, the Storm Crows are mentioned to come from a neighboring island→ I gave that island a name
Gundachinseln (Gundach Isles)→ Made up by me→ Based on the idea that non-mainland Orcs in Gothic 2 and Archolos must come from somewhere→ In the Archolos intro, the Orc fleet is shown approaching from this direction
Risen:
Wysland→ The lost continent in Risen 2/3→ The name was made up by me, as the games never provided one
Shapes and locations of Wysland (made-up name), Uctalan (made-up), Calador, Harlan, Inshuk-Or (made-up), Anthéra (made-up), and Eskalon (made-up)→ Based on an in-game map texture from Risen 2→ This map can be found on many ships→ I assumed it depicts the Risen world on a larger scale than the usual in-game map item
Riseña→ A name I made up for the Risen kingdom→ We never received an official name for it
Alvaria and Almadra→ Made-up names→ The two parts forming Riseña→ Alvaria is inspired by Spain, Almadra by Portugal→ This explains why most NPC and location names in Risen are Spanish or Portuguese
Velmorant→ A land consisting of three France-inspired kingdoms→ Entirely made up→ Based on the French-speaking characters in Risen 2→ (There had to be a reason why they speak French, after all)
Kaiserreich Govia→ An empire inspired by Eastern Slavic cultures→ Made up→ In my headcanon, the homeland of Romanov and other NPCs with Russian names
Additions from Gothic mods or fan projects
(mod names in bold, other fan works in italics)
Continents:
Ulctalan / Jazirat al Muluk→ Mentioned as a large island/continent in the Gothic fan novels Jünger des Xardas from WoG→ Supposed to be located near Arborea→ The fanfiction connects the worlds of Risen and Gothic and even suggests that Jazirat al Muluk is the same place as Arborea→ However, I needed a name for the large island shown on the Risen 2 map→ In the fanfiction, this is the origin of why the natives in Risen 2 are called “Molukken” by white settlers→ The people there should be similar to the natives of Arborea→ “Ulctalan” is meant to sound somewhat Aztec→ In my headcanon, the people of Jharkendar migrated from here to Khorinis→ (Which is why they resemble Aztecs/Maya in Gothic 2: Night of the Raven)
Südliche Kontinente (Southern Continents)→ Entirely based on the Gothic fan novels Jünger des Xardas from WoG→ The only exception are the Syrianic Islands
Islands:
Archolos, Londram, Glenwyr, Zondir Sol, Contir, Khelen, Vallaros, Eritros, Lomar→ From the Archolos mod
Laran→ Already mentioned in Gothic 1 through the lore character Barthos of Laran, who wrote many books about magic→ Archolos and the Gothic fan novels Jünger des Xardas interpret it as an island in the Eastern Archipelago
Kavaros, Talais, and most city names in the Eastern Archipelago→ From the Gothic fan novels Jünger des Xardas
Ardor→ Mentioned by name in Archolos→ Supposed to be located south of Archolos→ A war front against the Orcs is mentioned there→ In the Archolos intro, the Orc fleet is shown approaching the Eastern Archipelago from the south→ I interpreted Ardor as the name of the large island on which Gorthar from the WoG Forum RPG is located
Gorthar and Luzkanzacken (Luzkan Teeth)→ From the WoG Forum RPG→ According to the RPG, Luzkans are dangerous beasts living in these mountains, hence the name
Athanos, Tamora, Adarmos, Kondehra→ From the Odyssee mod
Orcades→ From the Orcades mod
Khor-Inseln (Khor Islands)→ Including Khorana, Khorus, Khoron, and Khorelius→ From the Khorana Prolog mod→ According to the Khorinis mod, Khorinis itself also belongs to the Khor Islands
Avalon→ From Mroczne Tajemnice / Dark Mysteries→ Also mentioned as an easter egg in Archolos
Gatyah→ From the Diccuric mod
Austrischer Archipel (Austric Archipelago)→ From the Orkkrieg mod→ In Orkkrieg, it is actually meant to represent the Eastern Archipelago→ However, I didn’t want it to clash with Archolos
Midland:
Sarmannische Steppe (Sarmannian Steppe)→ The name is made up→ Archolos mentions a gigantic steppe west of the borders of Myrtana
Bucht des Myrtat (Bay of Myrtat)→ From the Gothic fan novels Jünger des Xardas
Rubinbucht (Ruby Bay)→ From the Archolos mod
Nearly all new cities and locations in Myrtana, Varant, and Nordmar→ Based on the Gothic fan novels Jünger des Xardas from WoG→ The exception is Fjellborg in Nordmar, which comes from Archolos
Khorinis:
Trollzacken (Troll Teeth)→ According to Velaya, this is the name of the “castle” where Dexter resides in Gothic 2
Azgan→ From Returning / New Balance
Drakia→ From the WoG Forum RPG
Additions I made purely to fill the map:
Midland:
Kingdom of Fyrtos
Kingdom of Aräas
Kingdom of Gerandan
Kingdom of Pyron
Tribes of the Sarmanni
Govian Orc Tribes
Fjords of Storm
Howling Fjords
Wysland:
Kingdom of Montilia→ The name “Montillia” is mentioned in Archolos as a trader of red wine with Varant→ I based it on Italian culture
Kingdom of Grimwalt
Kingdom of Martanien
Islands:
Islands of the Sun
Artynic Islands→ The name “Vallaros” is mentioned in Archolos as a trader of rubies with Varant
Other:
Names of the oceans (except the Myrtanian Sea)
Some named but otherwise unnamed islands
Many, many cities→ If you read their names, you might get an idea of the cultures they are based on→ Most city names actually have a specific meaning
