Gothic 1: Reworked – Summary of Mod and Translation Updates

  • There’s been a lot going on around Gothic lately, so this update comes with a delay. The Czech translation has been updated to the latest version of the mod, and I’m also providing a Google-generated English translation for users.

  • Due to certain issues, some parts of the stats and a few other things are still in Polish.

  • There have been quite a lot of updates, so I’m also sharing the full list here.

  • An optional AI Polish dubbing has also been added to the Drive.

  • Fixed a bug in quick selling – the player now receives the correct amount of ore when selling

  • Fixed a bug with learning Sneak – it now correctly requires 20 Dexterity

  • Fixed a bug with Riordian’s position change – if the player talked to him first in Saturas’ chamber and only then talked to Xardas about Ur-Shak, he will no longer return from the laboratory back to Saturas

  • Black Troll and Young Troll now drop additional trophies, not only skins

  • After joining the Novices or the Scavengers, access to the castle in the Old Camp will be revoked – entry will require completing the mages’ courier quest / the “greens” quest for Gomez

  • Black Troll skin will no longer be included in quick selling

  • The Lightning spell will no longer hit the Fire Lizard

  • Sneak now correctly requires 20 Dexterity

  • Fixed a bug where the Fire Lizard collected items without the fast-collect ability

  • Fixed Thorus’ quests:

  • the “convoy search” quest is available immediately after promotion to Guard

  • the “kill Quentin” quest is available after completing the convoy quest or after entering Chapter 3 (only before promotion to Guard)

  • Fixed a bug when drawing the map with a weapon in hand

  • Horacy now gives +2 Strength – the bonus does not count toward his teaching limit, so the player always receives it

  • Fixed a bug with burning torches in inventories (they were mistakenly in Orc inventories – new game only)

  • Fixed shrines in the Temple of the Sleeper (before first entry only)

  • Fixed collision of the castle gate in the Old Camp (new game only)

  • Added version display in the main menu

  • Fixed interactions with counters – they will no longer get stuck or randomly grant Intelligence

  • Fixed interactions with objects (e.g., sleeping in bed) on Linux

  • Fixed Gorn’s stats in the Free Mine and removed potions from his inventory

  • Fixed a crash when looting a defeated NPC while another NPC was robbing them

  • Fixed a crash when searching a corpse while the Fire Lizard tried to take it

  • Fixed quick-selling of “junk” items – it no longer takes silver or gold

  • Temporarily disabled quick-selling of skins at Gestath (still available at Wilk)

  • Reduced the number of arrows and bolts in Cavalorn trade from 5 → 2 per staff

  • Items sold via quick sell can now be bought back (except armor)

  • “Junk”, gold, silver, rusty weapons, staves and Orc weapons are removed from merchants’ inventories

  • Added experience rewards for completing some quests that previously gave none

  • Recipes and schematics no longer disappear after re-reading if the player already knew them

  • The Fire Lizard will no longer collect items from Quentin’s cave (new game only)

  • Ulumulu no longer works on undead Orcs

  • Disabled the “InteractionCollision” option in SystemPack (it caused elevator and steel cloning bugs)

  • Stone will no longer move under the Fire Mages’ residence after being freed

  • Fixed typos and other minor bugs

  • Fixed bow and crossbow damage for NPCs

  • It is no longer possible to teleport out of the Temple of the Sleeper

  • Reduced the Dexterity requirement for Sneak from 30 → 20

  • Changed the pickpocketing system:

  • NPC resistance = Level × 5 + item weight

  • Player chance = Dexterity + stealing bonus + situational bonuses (sleep, night, fatigue)

  • The displayed value for stealing is now the total score, not the number of robbed NPCs

  • Fingers has lower pickpocketing requirements

  • Experience from stealing is always 50 XP, plus +1 Dexterity for every 20 NPCs

  • Fixed the Fire Lizard – it should get stuck less often

  • Fixed a visual bug for Brotherhood members after changing appearance

  • Gorn will now always mention Wolf before the expedition to the mine

  • Sleep limit on “Suffering” is now restored dynamically (every 2 in-game hours = 1 hour of sleep)

  • Fixed upgrading of rings and amulets

  • Fixed sleeping in bed – it can be repeated, buffs disappear after leaving the bed

  • UI messages are now displayed dynamically

  • Fixed duplication of summons between worlds

  • Reduced stun from Crawlers from 10 → 5 seconds (does not stack)

  • Crawlers will no longer start fighting each other because of shooting

  • Reduced learning point gain from ore potion from 3 → 2

  • Fixed mercenaries’ reaction near the ore pile

  • Books sold via quick sell can be bought back

  • Additional typo fixes
